This is a critical role in the operations organization to ensure accurate inventory management along with efficient and accurate purchase requisitions. This role performs a wide variety of specialized and general duties, both manual and computerized, that are required to plan and procure P&I inventory, operating supplies, project materials and services, and manage materials information. This role includes an extensive understanding of material planning for operations, process development, & procurement execution. This role will also serve as critical support for procurement work within CSSP, to ensure respective site requirements are met.

Principal Accountabilities

50% P&I Material Planning Operations

  • Assists in the management of improvement projects and commitments requiring a comprehensive understanding of P&I Material planning practices and procedures.

  • Apply a comprehensive understanding of P&I Material planning practices and procedures to identify areas of improvement, working capital control, and cost management deficiencies.

  • Utilize moderately complex internal/external benchmark reports and activities for P&I management controls.

  • Review Sales needs, inventory, usage, storage capacity, and product specifications on a daily basis, and develop a plan in case of gaps in order to minimize cost to serve and impact to customers. Communicate with all relevant stake holders in the process using a comprehensive understanding of P&I Material planning practices and procedures.

  • Backup support for other Protein locations

30% Process Development, Planning & Execution

  • Monitors and manages capacity of inventory in relation to demand of customer orders for multiple products or sites. When needed, contributes to decision for how and when to modify the original forecast and plan with some oversight from manager.

  • With some oversight, sets stock levels and monitors inventory health for multiple products or sites.

  • Uses thorough knowledge of P&I material planning practices and procedures to validate, coordinate, and execute sales and operations plans with medium impact to working capital. Has freedom to make limited changes to ordering plans.

  • With some oversight, coordinates and executes all forecasting processes. Interprets processes, and works with stakeholders to explain and refine it. Activities include:

  • Resolves forecast-related issues

  • Maintains and updates ROP/EOQ data

  • Responsible to ensure accurate input of Prism ERP system, Maximo, SAP

  • Optimizes orders with medium-short term outlook

  • Review Sales volumes/Requirements

  • Review equipment capacity forecasts

  • Review product specification accuracy

  • Review historical usage data

10% Customer & Client Interaction / Business Partnership

  • Discuss with internal stakeholders (e.g. Sales, Plant operations, Accounting, and Business Managers) on the impacts of their Sales / Production plan. This includes all aspects regarding costs, impact on capacity, logistics, and order releases.

  • Collaborate with peers in other sites, Businesses, Sales, Accounting, CSSP tactical buyers, PO processors, etc.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams to execute, evaluate and recommend common work processes, and improvement projects.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Scheduling group and forecast system users to resolve any issues impacting customer service/production efficiency. Implement changes as necessary.

  • Point of contact for all on site vendor visits and supplier concerns

10% Systems/Data Management, Reporting & Analysis

  • Responsible for reviewing / maintaining tools and relationships that support accurate capacity planning, as well as other databases within the business related to shipments and inventory management.

  • Responsible for verification, approval, and communication of all P&I related tasks within MOC system. Including accuracy of material master data.

  • Develops, maintains and utilizes moderately complex supply optimization and scenario management models to help analyze capacity and demand forecasts with medium impact on working capital. Report results to Sales, Planning and Operations teams for strategic planning purposes.

  • Responsible for occasional user training and benchmarking for material planning applications and tools.


Required Qualifications

  • 4 year degree in business, operations, procurement, supply chain or related degree program OR 5 years of equivalent work experience to this position

  • Strong analytical, planning and organizational skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to engage and communicate with internal and external stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • SAP Systems knowledge

  • Manufacturing or Logistics experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge of advanced principles, concepts and practices in following areas: procurement, computer based inventory systems and manufacturing operations

  • Advanced level of experience with Excel
