The Defense & Intelligence Group of Leidos has a career opening for a Systems Engineer within the Operations Team supporting the Australia Canada United Kingdom Reprogramming Lab (ACURL) and Norway Italian Reprogramming Labs (NIRL) Common Services Infrastructure (CSI) in San Antonio, Texas. However, you may work anywhere in the United States as long as you can commute 10-25% of the time. This position is a telecommuting position with light travel.

JOB SUMMBARY:

Leidos is seeking talented Experienced Systems Engineers to join its team, and lead the development and deployment of Information Technology systems and services for its Common Systems Infrastructure (CSI) organization. An Experienced Systems Engineer may also assume the role of Subject Matter Expert (SME) for one of six distinct service areas (Network, Storage, Compute, Core, Client, or Applications). Experienced Systems Engineers will participate in establishing and refining system design, lead system implementation, and coordinate implementation and integration activities with the Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, and Team Lead while representing a specific assigned service area for the full life cycle of the program.

The Common Systems Infrastructure (CSI) organization delivers advanced, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) technology-based solutions that address government and commercial customers’ mission-critical and programmatic challenges. This organization supports the Lockheed-Martin F-35 Program with advanced systems and services that significantly increase the features, capabilities, and RMF/JSIG compliant security while avoiding technology obsolesce.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

•Contributes to the Common Services Infrastructure architecture encompassing one of six service areas (Network, Storage, Compute, Core, Client, Apps)

•Supports and may serve as one of the primary technical, schedule and/or cost interfaces between engineering leadership, vendors, customers and/or other stakeholders

•Contributes and leads efforts to follow systems engineering processes throughout the lifecycle of the product or service design and implementation, including writing and upkeep of rack elevations, Bill of Material (BOM), software baseline, configuration management compliance and risk assessment and mitigation

•Increases the exposure within the organization to new ideas, ways to leverage technology and new trends in the technology market to foster innovation

•Participates in engineering Configuration Control Boards

•Supports customer engineering, operations, and management personnel to define and document the customer’s CONOPS and requirements

•Decompose allocated system requirements to align with system design and draft associated test cases used to verify and validate system functions

•Contributes to design review efforts and may participate in design reviews with internal and/or external stakeholders

•Supports trade studies as required for designing programmatic solutions

•Contributes to maintaining the technology obsolesce mitigation approach and methodology to stay up to date on new technology developments in the COTS and DoD marketplace

•Implements and advises leadership on technology strategies and the development and deployment of innovative enterprise architectures within assigned service area

•Identifies and proposes opportunities to simplify and leverage the baseline hardware and software resources across the architecture and design

•Maintains a culture of technical excellence and innovation across the organization

•Researches and plans the appropriate technologies and solutions to meet allocated requirements

•May serve as a technical subject matter expert for proposal efforts, including creation of a sub-system technical baseline, cost determination, ROM creation, and technical writing for the proposal volume

•Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

•A Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, engineering or related field is required

•5+ years equivalent experience with at least 2+ years with complex, distributed information technology data center environments required

•A strong, pragmatic approach to leading and contributing to design and implementation solutions, with a proven record in technology strategy planning and delivery

•Experience with the design, development, integration, and successful delivery of an enterprise IT technology solutions

•Experienced level technology skills and understanding

•The ability to prove the value of the service area design to the organization, make it meaningful and accountable; and as a result, use it to influence other design decisions

•Ability to communicate technical information effectively and efficiently to both technical and non‐technical management and staff

•Demonstrated ability to work individually and contribute as a member of a team

•Strong organizational, interpersonal, and effective time management skills

•Proven ability to influence people indirectly, work with people in multi-functional roles, and success in being a driver of change

•Able to manage towards both short term goals and long term goals. Project management and process experience including the ability to accurately estimate resources, time frame, and budgets needed for projects and deliverables

•Candidates must have a Final Transferable Secret security clearance, last Periodic Reinvestigation must be within the last five years. Candidates must be able to attain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access and maintain a current Security + (CE) certification

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

•Technology architecture and design methodology

•Proven project management experience preferred

•Experience with dev-ops and agile development/deployment is preferred
