This position is part of the TX SAO, Army Aviation Support Facility, and is in Grand Prairie, Texas. The purpose of the position is to instruct and perform flight crew work supporting heavy multi engine aircraft, and to provide assistance to the pilot in the overall operation of the aircraft.?

Appointment Factor(s): This is an excepted service position that requires active membership in a compatible military assignment in the Texas Army National Guard and wear of the military uniform. Applicant who are not already on-board employees with the Texas Army National Guard do not meet the eligibility for this position.

Responsibilities

As an FLIGHT ENGINEER (INSTRUCTOR) with the Texas Army National Guard, your duties will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Serves as instructor/flight examiner providing instruction, evaluation and examination on ground and operational training flights to develop and upgrade skills of aircrew members.
  • Applying knowledge of the full range of aircrew duties and responsibilities, methods of instruction and requirements of the program, performs standardization. currency, instrument, proficiency, tactical, emergency and special tasks evaluation flights.
  • May perform duties of Flight Engineer which includes utilizing a knowiedge of major aircraft systems associated with heavy multiengine aircraft.
  • Incumbent inspects condition and readiness of aircraft, accompanies pilots on preflight/in-flight inspections and aircraft test flights and operational checks.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

To be considered for qualification, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting the following:

Specialized Experience Required:

To qualify at the GS-10 grade level, your resume must include relevant experience with beginning and ending dates of employment/experience reflecting at least 30 months experience or training assisting the pilot in operating various aircraft systems, such as, hydraulic, fuel, electrical, or pressurization to assure safe operation of aircraft. Experience which has provided you with a knowledge of aircraft weight and balance computations; aircraft performance data; aircraft records maintenance; and aircraft systems..
