Avionic Project Engineer

Jacobs has partnered with NASA to support space flight programs for more than 40 years and held the predecessor Engineering and Science Contract (ESC) since 2005. We look forward to continuing that work as the prime contractor for the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) contract along with our eleven teammate companies to provide engineering, scientific and technical contract services at NASA's Johnson Space Center (Houston, TX). JETS provides products and technical services related to human operations in space through development and integration of a broad spectrum of engineering requirements. This includes human spacecraft flight and flight development products, human exploration mission planning for NASA, institution support services, and new technology development. Our long-term client relationship with NASA, has led to a need for an Avionic Project Engineer with Barrios, a JETS teammate company.
The Avionic Project Engineer will:
Support project group with design of new and existing avionic hardware.
Perform ground testing and flight operations testing for hardware with end item documentation.
Support integration, verification and validation activities of hardware.
Understand and support project testing schedule and produce required documentation.
Review and track engineering deliverables for project status reporting.
Understand CAD drawings and large scale systems.
Perform procurement documentation and work with vendors for hardware specification and delivery.
Perform other duties as required.

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited engineering school with five (5) to thirteen (13) years of related engineering experience, or a Master’s degree from an accredited engineering school and four (4) to eleven (11) years of related engineering experience, or Ph.D. from an accredited engineering school and zero (0) to eight (8) years of related experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience with hardware and operations.
Understanding of electrical, mechanical and power systems.
Understanding of Concept of Operations and Requirements Documentation.
Understanding of schedules and budgets.
Must have good communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Avionic Hardware and/or Flight Process/Paperwork.

Generally an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs (5% of time).

Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required.
