The primarypurpose of the Software Developer position is to develop, maintain, and improvesoftware for processing of metabolomics and proteomics data within the McCombsInstitute.

Ideal candidates will have experience with the following:* C#, JavaScript,Java and python * *

  • Development ofsoftware/programs to analyze data from metabolomics, proteomics, and otheromics platforms.

  • Adhere to coding guidelineswithin the team and utilize approved software packages to execute platformautopipelines

  • Design application domainmodels and application architecture

  • Ensure optimal use of versioncontrol and tracking system to manage code, version history and work detail

  • Coordinate migration ofdatabase changes from development environment to test and productionenvironments

  • Responsible for writing codein all tiers (UI, business domain, service, data access layer)

  • Establish sound automatedtesting and unit testing solutions for the applications

  • Maintain requireddocumentation for the infrastructure

  • Assist in high levelarchitectural design of applications

  • Applies advanced statisticaland bioinformatics programming as needed

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Participate in effective, optimal and timelycommunication

  • Communicate best software development patternsand practices to team members

  • Communicate with stakeholders the progress ofprojects

  • Promote the use of IT as a solution to businessprocess issues


  • Proactively look for and implement ways toimprove IT service delivery

  • Adhere to established project managementmethodology and recommend ways to improve efficiency in project maintenance

  • Participate in the development of policies,procedures, and standards

  • Maintain support for systems efficiently andachieve successful outcomes in support activities

  • Explore and implement new software developmentpractices that will accelerate the pace of development


  • Attends appropriate departmental meetings andinstitutional continuing education programs

  • Maintains knowledge of regulations and policiesfor systems

  • Keep up with knowledge on improvements intechnology

  • Assist in the development and training of thesoftware development team.



Bachelor's degree.



Three years in software programming and analysis. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis or completed years of college on a one to one basis.

Preferred Experience:

C#, JavaScript,Java and Python

Biomedical research experience
