We are searching for a Staff GNC Engineer in our Advanced Systems & Technologies (AS&T) located in Plano, TX.

Job Summary:

This position provides advanced concept development, design, implementation, test, and evaluation of AS&T.

Major Responsibilities/Activities Statements:

  • Development of outer-loop control algorithms utilizing feedback from a variety of sensors for tracking, precision guidance, and ISR mission support

  • Development of inner-loop control algorithms for vehicle stability and performance

  • Development of navigation solutions using GPS and/or alternate-sensor aiding

  • Development of high-fidelity 6DOF math models to simulate/recreate dynamic behavior of airborne flight systems and their sub-components

  • Technology planning and system-level trade studies providing requirements and performance specification

  • Mentoring engineers by demonstrating excellent interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills

  • The position can include time in office, lab, and infrequent flight test environments depending on program/task.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Required Experience:

  • Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering degree with an emphasis on Control Theory (advanced degree preferred)

  • 15 years of experience in airborne flight control systems or related field

  • 15 years of experience using integrated sensor systems for guidance and/or navigation

Required Skills:

  • Fluency in Matlab/Simulink for development and analysis

  • Working knowledge in C/C programming

  • Extensive knowledge in control system design (classical and modern) including application to high-speed, unstable-airframe aerodynamics

  • Extensive knowledge in practices/standards/sensitivities for precision sensor pointing, stabilization, fusion, tracking, and feedback control

  • Extensive knowledge of Navigation algorithm/solutions including integration of GPS and alternate-sensor hardware aiding

  • Experience with modeling and control of power plant/propulsion systems

  • Excellent root-cause analysis and debugging skills from live and/or simulated flight data

  • Excellent people skills, with experience leading and collaborating in a multi-disciplinary, diverse, and dynamic team environment.

  • Willingness to be (or become) a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for functional area topics

  • Willingness and desire to train less experienced GNC engineers via mentoring and/or technically focused training sessions

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation)

Other Requirements:

  • U.S. citizenship and active Secret clearance required

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SSBI is mandatory

Educational Requirements: Physical Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

  • Ability to travel up to 10%

  • Support Field Testing
